There are a whole host of holiday gift guides out there, ranging from gifts for kids, cooks, gardeners, his and hers; however this selection is specific for travellers with useful and practical ideas – well, stuff that’s on our amazon wishlist..*hint hint*!
- A Carry-On Backpack
With the cost of aviation decreasing, a return ticket to Copenhagen is becoming the same price as a day travelcard in London; and the best way to keep costs down is to utilize the free carry-on space!
A brand we would recommend is ‘Cabin Max’. They have many colours and variations to choose from, however the magic is the dimension as they’re the exact limits for many airline requirements which makes it perfect for overhead cabins, and to get the most out of your ticket.
Now with all the amazing sights that you are bound to encounter, you need the best tool possible to capture them and there are a couple that we would recommend to achieve this.
The GoPro Hero4 is the perfect action camera for your adventures that will not mind being tossed about, and thrown into the bottom of your backpack. It captures amazing full HD video and photos in a compact frame that you’ll barely notice in your back, and a battery life that will last forever – or a couple days at least…
The second, and a personal favourite is the beautiful Sony Alpha 7. This is a compact mirrorless SLR that captures professional looking shots in a quarter of the size of your regular DSLR. The controls are easy to master with a tutorial mode and whole range of interchangeable lense which makes this the gift that keeps on giving.
3. Portable Charger
With all these gadgets in our pockets, and the never-ending trek to the middle of nowhere; miles from a power outlet, we need something that can charge these boys up. A portable charger is the perfect gift with will ensure you keep going (..although make sure you charge that up before you leave).
There are many brands out there to choose from and they all do the same job, however the EasyAcc will charge your phone from 0% to 100% 5-6 times, and its dual USB ports allow you to charge your phone and tablet or camera all at one – technology aye!!
4. Packing Cubes
What is better than all your belongings organised from the moment you leave, to the time you leave.. just us? These are a great way to organise, store, and separate clean/dirty clothes while off on your adventure. These can act as your own person draws while at hostels and ensure you have everything you need while packing; they also make unpacking super easy and quick!
5. Travel Bottles
Theses are AMAZING and something that gets used on every trip of ours. Airline regulations make it difficult taking full-sized bottles of shampoo and body wash, especially as hand luggage is the only thing we utilize so these travel bottles come in very handy. Fill them with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, or hair and shower gel, toothpaste, and lotion – there are so many options.
Books, books, and some more books – your perfect travel companion.
While it may be tempting to try and pack your entire library, a Kindle will make this dream much more achievable (and lighter). With a battery that will last a month and a whole selection of free ebooks, you’ll be sure to find something to read no matter where you may end up.
A notebook filled with ideas, places, names, recipies, dream, lists, and memories – or filled with doodles like ours.. A Moleskine notebook is the perfect accessory to take around with you with its luxurious cover and quality paper. There are many varieties to choose from, but the plain paper ones are our favourite to let you make it your own..
Sometimes, there’s nothing better than relaxing in a coffee shop, people watching, and shutting the world out – and some good quality headphones are just what you need. There are many brands we recommend; Bose, Beats, Bang & Olufsen, Bowers & Wilkins, or even these Rose Gold Frends headphones – how fancy.
Yes, a scarf. But we’re not talking any scarf, we’re talking about big fabric scarfs that can be turned into a pillow, skirt, cover the shoulder, folded into a laptop case, tied to form a tote bag for impromptu market visits – the possibilities are endless. A desert scarf is one we would recommend, or even a Sholdit scarf for the ladies, which have secret pockets for your valuables.
10. Card Games
Card games are a great way to keep yourself entertained, and even socialise while out and about, or at a hostel. A simple pack of cards would do, or a couple personal favourites of ours would be UNO and Cards Against Humanity which are a proven crowd pleaser.
